Random Trail Camera Pictures

It has been a while since I checked the trail camera out in the back forty.
I had close to 100 pictures but edited them down to just a few.
There were lots of raccoon and deer pictures, but I tried to pick out the better ones of the deer with a few turkeys thrown in for good measure.

All is well here. You know the drill, work, work and more work. No complaints from me in that respect.
We spent most every weekend down at the lake in our camper and had a blast.

Wildlife Invades Coyote Ridge This Week

This has been a big week here at Coyote Ridge. Now that spring has sprung, the wild critters are out in full force.
In the past week we have seen seven coyotes, eight deer, one woodchuck and four turkeys. I am not even counting the squirrels that seem to be eating our door frames.
I did catch a picture of a turkey out the shop window this morning.

This week I went out to check on my trail camera and brought it in. Even with new batteries, the LCD screen does not work. It is under warranty so I will send it back for repair or replacement.

Summer is Coming....Maybe!

Yup.....a sure sign of Summer. We can see the deer again here at Coyote Ridge.

Like so many areas of the country, we have had a long, tough winter with more than enough snow and cold. We realize we live in Minnesota, but at times we think we have been transplanted to Siberia.

Last Leaf Removal Of The Fall

This past Saturday we spent about five hours doing one last leaf pick up here at Coyote Ridge. The only leaves left on the trees are the Oaks that will drop right after we change over the tractor from the mow mode to the snow blower mode.
We had to wear our blaze orange vests and hats while working because the firearm deer hunting season started Saturday and it sounded like a war zone out here.

For a larger image, click on the pictures.

The next order of business is converting the tractor over to winter mode with the attachment of the three stage snow blower and chains. Our son Ben helps with that every year. It is nice to spend the time together with him.

Saturday night we had supper at Sue's folks home. Once again Harv and Molly outdid themselves with a fantastic meal that was topped off with fresh dutch apple pie.

On the way home we saw the deer I am sure many hunters were looking for. It was pitch black and all of a sudden Sue exclaimed "DEER!" Standing in the middle of the dark country road was a beautiful ten point buck. I brought the truck to a stop about 20 feet from the trophy and he just stood there staring at us. After a few seconds he ran off into the ditch and out across a field where he disappeared into the darkness.

I was out on our back deck Sunday morning shortly before 7:00 watching the sunrise and the early morning calm was shattered by gunshots. Before the flurry was over, I counted 32 shots. Now, there must have been a huge herd of deer or hunters who were terrible shots. I have never heard so many shots in such a short period of time. I hope the big buck we saw wasn't involved.

Look What The Trail Camera Caught!

The camera caught me red handed...red handed squirrel that is.

As always, you may click on the images to enlarge them.
After catching the squirrel (with bare hands of course) I snapped it's neck and deposited it's carcass in front of the camera.
The first visitor looked a bit curious.

Once dark set in, our normal visitors started coming out.

Then the party started.....

I have no idea what happened to the dead squirrel. We were in hopes that a coyote would venture into camera range and find a meal.

I will just have to grab another squirrel and see what happens tonight.

Stay tuned for another exciting tale on "Now What Are They Doing?"

Deer In Garden

While I was on a business trip to Washington,DC last week some deer decided to make themselves at home in the yard and garden.
This one apparentlty felt right at home while Sue snapped it's picture through the kitchen window.

Of course, where there is one deer, there are always more.....

I do enjoy looking at deer, but not in the garden!
