Geocaching In Perfect Weather

We decided to take a few hours off Sunday and hike in the woods looking for treasures....geocaches.
We looked for three and found all of them.
The first was located in Seven Mile Creek Park in Nicollet County Minnesota. It is located about half way between Mankato and St.Peter.
As you can see from the pictures, it is a beautiful hilly area.
If you would like to see a larger image, click the picture.

We took a wrong turn somewhere while following the GPS unit. We ended up way off the trail climbing up a muddy hillside. Sue kept going, but I chickened out. About a half hour later here comes Sue walking down the trail after locating the cache.
As you can see from the pictures,it was well hidden off the trail.

Our next adventure took us back into town to Spring Lake Park where a nice short stroll took us to the right spot.

After I opened up the treasure box I picked through the toys and left with a really nice "transformer" car. Kids will be kids!

Now it was off to our third and final hunt for the day. The GPS coordinates led us to a small park where there is a memorial for children who have died.
The coordinates were off as the location was out in the middle of a big open field with no place to hide anything.

Our son Ben and his wife Anna had found the cache earlier so I called her for a hint. She said the coordinates were off so just look around for obvious hiding spots. That was the clue we needed. Sue found the small container in a bush about 55 feet from where it should have been.

As you can see from the next picture...it was a very small item we were looking for...it was a camouflaged film canister.

Three for three...a very good day.

Of course it wasn't all play that day. A trip to the home center, Menards, found us walking out with more grass seed, fertilizer, weed killer, paint brushes and M&M's. Honest Sue, I don't know how those got into the cart!

What A Great Time With The Young Folks

Saturday night Sue's folks (The Harv and Molly),Sue and this humble writer ventured out to St. Peter to Patrick's On Third to watch "Useful Jenkins" a five member band that included our nephew Josh and our nieces husband, Travis.
Of course we had to get some pictures...you may recognize some of the suspects...Josh, Brooke, Harv and Sue.

The band started playing shortly after 10:00 (my bedtime) and it didn't take long for the dance floor to get some action.

Before the night was done, the dance floor was packed with people clutching their drinks for dear life. I also saw some people clutching each other, but that will be a different story for a different time.

Here is a picture of Brook's husband, Travis. He is on the far right.

And a few more shots....

Sue's brother Bob and his wife Molly were also there. They are nice people and fun to be around.

If you ever get the opportunity to see this band, please do. Here is a link to their site. You can listen to their material and even order their new CD if you wish. Useful Jenkins Site

There was an older couple on the dance floor the entire night...(the guy with the white beard and wife in long dress) who had a healthy attitude. While talking to Sue...He said..."Growing old is inevitable....Growing up is optional". In the words of our niece, Brooke... Yup....that saying belongs on a t-shirt or bumper sticker.
