The Kids and the Twins

Ben, Anna and Andy (the baseball addict) went to a Minnesota Twins baseball game Sunday afternoon. Andy wanted to take in a game while he was in town because it was his last opportunity to see his favorite team play in the Metrodome. The Twins will be moving to their new stadium next year.

Of course, we have a "self" photo from his iPhone.

Hang tight for more photos as we attended the wedding of our niece Jaime this past weekend.

Busy and More Busy!

WOW, what a week!
Our youngest son, Andy, has been visiting from Seattle since Wednesday. We picked him up at the Minneapolis airport at 11:40 Wednesday night and we have been going ever since. It has been GREAT!

We talked and got caught up on his life until 4AM Thursday then I was up at 7:30 to get my emails and other "work stuff" completed via remote control. Six hours later, My work was finished and we were off and running for shopping and visiting.

We met Ben and Anna for pizza and 25 cent beer pitchers at Pag's in Mankato. More chatting found us hitting our respective racks at about 2AM the next morning.

Friday found me working on my business emails and getting travel arrangements made for a business trip to Washington, DC in early July.

A trip to the grocery store netted us the proper supplies to build some wonderful food creations to make on the BBQ grill.

The food you see included cucumbers, shrimp, pork. onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and more. Not pictured was the sweet corn that we also grilled. Combine that with some beer, wine and a healthy amount of bourbon.....oh man, what a feast.

Lest I forget, we also had fresh green beans. They were out of this world! I will get the recipe from Sue and post it later.

To wrap up the night, we started a big campfire and exchanged lies for a couple of hours.

I have lots more to write about, so tune in again real soon for another edition of :

Camping and Geocaching

This past weekend we loaded up the camper and headed to Camden State Park near Marshall,MN. This is a great park with very private campsites and beautiful scenery.

We backed the rig in and hooked up the electric....pretty smooth so far, huh?

After a bit, I discovered the microwave clock was not on. I tried the TV to no avail, yet the lights worked as did the stereo-CD player. Hmmmmm, must be an electrical problem.

I checked the 30 amp plug outside and discovered the breaker was tripped. I also learned that the plug on the end of the RV card was broken and probably was causing the system to short out. But it worked fine when I first plugged it in.

One may panic at the thought of no electricity, but we took that as a challenge to "boondock".....that is using no outside utilities and being totally self sufficient.

We have a 12 volt on board system that will power our lights, stereo and on board water system. No problem....we did not need the air conditioning or TV so we were all set.

Our hot water heater is gas as is our fridge and freezer. They operate on gas or electric. The oven and stove are also gas.

To make a long story short, we did just fine and when we left, after two days, our 12 volt system still was 3/4 charged.

Once some free time arrives, I will cut the plug off the umbilical cord and wire a new one on. I am 90 per cent sure that is the problem.

We spent most of Saturday geocaching and will have pictures soon.

My Buddy Larry

We all have heroes. Mine is Larry The Cable Guy. I seek out only the best to associate with and I think Larry really has a firm grip on reality.

I hope you agree with me as you read the following Larryisms....

1.A day without sunshine is like night.

2.. On the other hand, you have different fingers.

3. 42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

4. 99 percent of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

5. Remember, half the people you know are below average.

6. He who laughs last, thinks slowest.

7. Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

8. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese in the trap.

9. Support bacteria. They're the only culture most people have.

10. A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

11. Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.

12. If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.

13. How many of you believe in psycho-kinesis? Raise my hand.

14. OK, so what's the speed of dark?

15. When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

16. Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

17. How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?

18. Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

19. What happens if you get scared half to death, twice?

20. Why do psychics have to ask you your name?

21. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering, 'What the heck happened?'

22. Just remember -- if the world didn't suck, we would all fall off.

23. Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

24. Life isn't like a box of chocolates. It's more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your butt tomorrow.

Words to live by.....Thanks Larry!

Weather and Blonds

I sure hope the weather has been better where you are. For the past four days we have had record low high temperatures....like highs in the low 50's. We really needed the rain, but not the cold temperatures!

On a lighter note.....

Two blonds living in Oklahoma were sitting on a bench talking, and one blond says to the other, 'Which do you think is farther away...Florida or the moon?'

The other blond turns and says 'Helloooooooooo, can you see Florida ?????'

CAR TROUBLE
A blond pushes her BMW into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it died. After he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly. She says, 'What's the story?'

He replies, 'Just crap in the carburetor'
She asks, 'How often do I have to do that?'

SPEEDING TICKET
A police officer stops a blond for speeding and asks her very nicely if he could see her license.
She replied in a huff, 'I wish you guys would get your act together.
Just yesterday you take away my license and then today you expect me to show it to you!'

RIVER WALK
There's this blond out for a walk. She comes to a river and sees another blond on the opposite bank. 'Yoo-hoo!' she shouts, 'How can I get to the other side?'
The second blond looks up the river then down the river and shouts back, 'You ARE on the other side.'

AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE
A gorgeous young redhead goes into the doctor's office and said that her body hurt wherever she touched it.
'Impossible!' says the doctor. 'Show me.'
The redhead took her finger, pushed on her left shoulder and screamed, then she pushed her elbow and screamed even more. She pushed her knee and screamed; likewise she pushed her ankle and screamed. Everywhere she touched made her scream.
The doctor said, 'You're not really a redhead, are you?
'Well, no' she said, 'I'm actually a blond..'
'I thought so,' the doctor said. 'Your finger is broken.'

KNITTING
A highway patrolman pulled alongside a speeding car on the freeway.
Glancing at the car, he was astounded to see that the blond behind the wheel was knitting!
Realizing that she was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the trooper cranked down his window, turned on his bullhorn and yelled, 'PULL OVER!'
'NO!' the blond yelled back, 'IT'S A SCARF!'

BLOND ON THE SUN
A Russian, an American, and a Blond were talking one day. The Russian said, 'We were the first in space!'
The American said, 'We were the first on the moon!'
The Blond said, 'So what? We're going to be the first on the sun!'
The Russian and the American looked at each other and shook their heads. 'You can't land on the sun, you idiot! You'll burn up!' said the Russian.
To which the Blond replied, 'We're not stupid, you know. We're going at night!'

IN A VACUUM
A blond was playing Trivial Pursuit one night. It was her turn. She rolled the dice and she landed on Science & Nature. Her question was, 'If you are in a vacuum and someone calls your name, can you hear it?'
She thought for a time and then asked, 'Is it on or off?'

FINALLY, THE BLOND JOKE TO END ALL BLOND JOKES!
A girl was visiting her blond friend, who had acquired two new dogs, and asked her what their names were. The blond responded by saying that one was named Rolex and one was named Timex.

Her friend said, 'Whoever heard of someone naming dogs like that?'
'HELLLOOOOOOO......,' answered the blond. 'They're watch dogs!'

What do you expect from a free site like this.....Quality?

I Don't Want Two New Phones!

OK, here is the story.

As you may already know, if you read my previous post, I purchased a new BlackBerry Curve 8330 on Friday. But there is more to the story.

We have a family plan with two telephones. I needed a new phone and Sue didn't. She doesn't even turn it on unless she wants to make a call. Her phone was basically brand new.

But the deal was that you get two new telephones, with the second phone "free" after rebate. I told them that I didn't need or want the second phone and asked them for a break. Nope. Then I told them I would take the phone, but don't activate it because her phone looks and operates like new. Nope, could not do that. So, they activated the new phone and her perfectly good phone is now retired.

Sue's new phone is the Hue II by Samsung.

Specs wise, the Hue II sports a 2.2-inch screen, GPS, Bluetooth, music player with dedicated control keys, 2 megapixel camera that can take both photos and videos, email app, 54MB of internal memory that is further expandable with microSD cards. The device measures 3.8×1.9×0.7 inches and has a weight of 3.4 ounces. The Hue II sales package includes a range of colored faceplates for the device.

Thanks goodness for Ebay. I always like to get multiple wall and car chargers for the cell phones. I purchased three car chargers, two wall chargers and a cell phone holster on Ebay for less than one car charger at the cell phone store. What a markup these stores have on accessories!
